World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may raise an item's Mark level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.
Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all its upgraded benefits (attack, magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive dependent on who you employ and what you do. This is due to the variety of perks that have to be modified to upgrade an item.
It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. item upgrades is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can wear since PvP is not available at lower levels. Players can view their average item level in their character sheet.
When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can look at the item level. It's an excellent indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it is capable of causing. The item level can also be used to compare items when looking at a vendor's inventory.
The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the full item description, including its ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are various theories about how the calculation of an item's level is made. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula that determines the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration that different benefits are valued differently and that gems in the sockets increase the item's value. This can result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is usually very close to Blizzard's actual item level.
This is not the only factor that affects the ilvl of an item. The level of the area where the item dropped can also change its stats. For instance, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit score. Items dropped in higher-level instances will have higher ilvl.
Item Stats
The stats of an item can determine the fate of an item for players. The game uses them in a variety of ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon, and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are increased by the weapon's stat modification that are in turn increased by the player's skill.
The upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey for instance, will only be upgraded one time and items with rare tiers may be upgraded multiple times at higher prices.
Another method of altering the stats of an item is to use affixes. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes could be used to give the item additional damage, or give a specific ability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing the duration of cooldowns), or make the item unique by giving a special name to the item.
Currently, all affixes can be modified by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button with circling arrows. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold as well as items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other rerolling options.
In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which of the available stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will have at least one stat within the same range, unless it's a unique item or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be changed is the option to upgrade equipment without having to roll the attaches, or select which stats to enhance. But, like base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item level, and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of those properties. It doesn't, however directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is particularly beneficial for early game runs, because players tend to put defenses and weapon scaling over raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the chances of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item. They can also be increased by using anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can be made or spawn using the Luck property, which has the default value of 40. These items can then be enhanced by golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item, up to 140.
Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be outfitted to increase the damage of any ability that deals damage by five percent. These items are available from the shop or made using the correct ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are costly and not every upgrade will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade or to prevent players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.
When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to the extent to which success rates can be increased, and the overall chance of an upgrade failing can't exceed 100%..
The luck of an item can influence the success of an upgrade. All items have an average success rate of 25 percent, and each item with Luck increases this chance by five percent.
The item upgrade overlays are rendered above items in the inventory. This may obscure enchantment effects and other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
